Founded by a generous grant in 2010, the UCP of NYC Media Arts Program empowers consumers by helping them develop strong voices for self-expression. The Media Arts Program encompasses a variety of learning opportunities in both traditional and digital photography, as well as video production.

Projects are initiated by consumer interest and facilitated by our knowledgeable director who acts as both a teacher and a team resource for seeing the project through to fruition.

Media Arts projects are developed to meet the diverse goals and educational needs of our consumers; they cover basic digital photography skills, portraiture and composition, or planning and producing movies. A number of individuals have shown interest in sharing their personal “stories” and are working on Self-Advocacy videos to teach viewers about the Americans with Disabilities Act and disability sensitivity issues.

The UCP of NYC Media Arts Program continues to grow and produce an exciting catalog of works to share with the community. Our greatest achievement with the program is that we help individuals develop self-confidence, accomplish project goals and have fun throughout the creative process.
