Beverly Ellman and a Recent UCP of NYC Pre-School Graduate
On Wednesday, June 27th, the Bronx Developmental Disabilities Council (DD Council) held its Sixteenth Annual Awards Dinner to honor exceptional leaders in the industry. Beverly Ellman, Director of UCP of NYC’s Bronx Children’s program, was honored at the dinner for her commitment to supporting families and children with developmental disabilities for over three decades.
As an educator and a well-respected partner to the community, Ellman has touched the lives of thousands of children and families living in the Bronx. She is responsible for creating an extraordinary legacy in the Bronx community and
will continue to set high standards for other educators in both her work at UCP of NYC and with the Bronx DD Council. Nellie Velez, a parent and DD Council member, presented Ellman with her award stating,: "Your commitment and dedication in meeting the needs of children with developmental disabilities and their families is a shining example for all of us. You are an example of the difference one person can make in the lives of so many. Your commitment to children with special needs and your commitment to the DD Council is truly appreciated.”
Ellman was applauded by a room filled with admirers including her family and a large number of staff from UCP of NYC and other provider agencies.
