Program Description
Located in Brooklyn, UCP/NYC's School Age Program
serves children and teens between the ages of
six and 21 who have severe physical disabilities
as well as unique educational, therapeutic and
medical needs. As a non-public school, eligibility
for this program is determined by the New York
City Board of Education.
Services
Each student in the School Age Program has an
approved individualized education plan which
emphasizes academics, social and physical independence,
quality of life skills and transition to adult
services.The school environment offers barrier-free
classroom settings with the following emphasis:
- specialized instruction
- computer learning lab
- augmentative communication
- adapted positioning and handling
- adaptive physical education
- therapeutic pool activities
- field trips, assemblies and community integration
opportunities
Hours of Operation
The School Age Program is offered year-round except for some holidays and a three-week vacation in the summer. The program is open five
days a week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and
2:00 p.m.

Eligibility
UCP/NYC's School Age Program is geared to children
between the ages of six and 21 who have severe
physical and developmental disabilities, including
challenging motor and health care needs. Children
must be approved by the NYC Board of Education
to attend the School Age Program. They must
also be New York City residents.
Funding
All funding and transportation are provided
at no cost to families by the New York State
Education Department and the New York City Board
of Education, and supplemented by private contributions
to UCP/NYC.
Location and Travel Information
The School Age Program is located at UCP/NYC's
Brooklyn Campus at 175 Lawrence Avenue between
Ocean Parkway and Setow Place. It is easily
accessible to nearby bus and subway transportation,
although round-trip transportation between school
and home is provided to every student.
