Family Reimbursement
Program Description
Family Reimbursement is a program designed to assist families with a variety of critical needs -- including items or services not funded through other sources -- that can make all the difference in maintaining a family member with developmental disabilities in the home. A committee comprised of other parents with disabled children reviews applications and makes recommendations about reimbursement subsidies up to $500 per family. UCP/NYC administers the program and implements the committee's recommendations.

Services
Some of the many requests for subsidies which have been approved in the past include:

  • summer camp tuition
  • after-school care expenses
  • bedding items
  • specialized clothing
  • small furniture needs
  • uninsured medical supplies and equipment
  • adaptive toys and adaptive equipment

Hours of Operation
The Family Reimbursement Program may be contacted Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Find up-to-the-minute information about snow closings through the WCBS School Snow Closings system:  http://wcbs880.com/snow-closings/3073, where you can also sign up to receive email and/or text message alerts.

Eligibility
Any family with a family member who is developmentally disabled and lives in the boroughs of the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan or Staten Island is eligible to apply.

Funding
Family Reimbursement is funded by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities. Subsidies awarded are up to $500 per family. Applications may be made in writing.
