Planned Gifts

Other Gifts

As with other planned gifts, the following types of gifts can provide you with some significant benefits while helping to support United Cerebral Palsy of New York City's programs and services.

Retirement Assets

Retirement account assets such as IRAs, if left to anyone other than a spouse, can be subject to a very high rate of taxation. It is often suggested that rather than leaving other assets to UCP/NYC you consider leaving some or all of the remaining benefits from your retirement plan, or at least using those benefits during your lifetime to fund a charitable gift that would also provide income to you and possibly another beneficiary for life. By doing so you might effectively reduce the taxes that will otherwise be imposed on those assets that have grown tax-free.

Life Insurance

There are several ways that you can make a gift of life insurance to UCP/NYC. Our Director of Development would be pleased to discuss these options with you.

Real Estate

The gift of a primary residence or vacation home is a unique and meaningful way to support UCP/NYC. By means of a retained life estate, you can reap the satisfaction of making a gift during your lifetime without affecting your current lifestyle. Our Director of Development welcomes the opportunity to provide you with additional information. You may also use real estate (land, a building, etc.) to fund Charitable Remainder Trusts.

Bank Accounts

Some donors have asked us if they can leave a bank account in trust for UCP/NYC. The answer is "yes." Although it will not entitle you to an income tax deduction during your lifetime, it may decrease the taxation on your estate.
