| NY1 Highlights UCP/NYC’s Access to Home Program |
06/15/2010
NY1 highlights the success of UCP/NYC’s Doorways to Independence initiative and its Access to Home program in the Health and Fitness Report airing throughout the week of June 14th. NY1’s Kafi Drexel interviewed Glenn Pantofel, a Queens resident with multiple sclerosis, who received home modifications from UCP/NYC’s Access to Home program, and Loreen Arbus, UCP/NYC founding family-member and the Founder and Chair of the Women Who Care Luncheon, one of UCP/NYC’s most successful fundraising events.
In his interview, Glenn talks about the vast improvement in his daily life thanks to the modifications UCP/NYC funded, including a remote-controlled lift and tracking system and widening the doorways throughout his apartment.
Ms. Arbus spoke about the importance of keeping this program going in light of proposed state budget cuts, and of the need for private donors to help UCP/NYC continue providing this invaluable service to individuals with disabilities and the frail elderly.
See the story on NY1's website or as it airs throughout the week during NY1’s Health and Fitness Report.
