UCP/NYC Seeks Qualified Residents for Access to Home Program
06/14/2010

Access to Home is a grant-funded program providing home modifications to persons with disabilities and seniors with physical limitations to allow them greater mobility within their own homes. Modifications, such as ramps, lifts, automatic door openers, bathroom and kitchen modifications, appliances that respond to voice commands, and smoke/carbon monoxide/burglar alarms for the hearing impaired, enable an individual to be more independent and offer an alternative to out-of-home placement. There are income guidelines for eligibility and dollar limits for each project.

To apply for this program, an Access to Home application is required with a proof of income and description of disability. To receive an application, please call UCP/NYC’s Project CONNECT at 877-UCP-CONNECT and an application will be sent to you. Applicants can also make an appointment to review their Bronx requests with Jillian Barovick at 212-979-9700 ext 321.

Please contact the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal Regional office at 212-480-7644 to find out about other Access to Home providers in New York City that might be able to meet your needs.
