Children Design 2004 Holiday Card
Youngsters in the Manhattan Children’s Program created a magical winter wonderland scene with snowmen and trees for the 2004 UCP/NYC Holiday card. Litho Printers produced the cards, which were sent to friends of the agency, and donated 1,500 extra cards and envelopes to the Children’s program. The proceeds of the card sales will be used for recreational opportunities for the children. Thanks to Litho’s Ken Lerman and Craig Sheer for their generous donation of additional cards

Links Brokerage Donates Commissions to UCP/NYC
One day a year, the Links Brokerage Firm donates all commissions to various local charities. Thanks to Richard Donovan, UCP/NYC was one of Links’ designated charities for 2004 and received a contribution of almost $16,000. Our favorite late-night personality, Alan Kalter, of the Late Show with David Letterman, personally visited the firm to meet the traders and thank them for their time and generosity.
UCP/NYC extends a very special thank you to Rich and Alan, as well as to Andy Kippax, Razi Karim and everyone at Links.
Paintings by UCP/NYC Artists Displayed at Union Theological Seminary Exhibition
Twenty-four paintings by adults who attend the UCP/NYC Day Hab Program in Brooklyn and the Evening Hab program in Manhattan were displayed at “The Work of Our Hands,” an exhibit of art created by people with disabilities. The exhibit, staged at James Memorial Chapel of Union Theological Seminary in Morningside Heights, took place in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Committee on Disabilities, National Council of Churches in September 2004.
On September 22, the UCP/NYC artists, along with members of the staff, attended a reception held at the chapel. None of the day’s challenges—street closings due to a visit by President Bush and the filming of CSI in the streets near the Seminary.—dampened the artists’ enthusiasm. Seeing their work displayed in the magnificent domed chapel and speaking with Committee members and attendees about their art made the evening truly memorable for the artists.
